Custom Work TermsAll poultry must be delivered to Island Farmhouse Poultry before 7:30am the morning of your custom butchering day or 6:30am during our summer butchering hours. Please crate up your poultry at night to keep them calm, and withdraw feed by 8pm the night before butchering. We recommend viewing the BC SPCA codes of good practice for poultry handling and shipping. Go to www.spca.bc.ca/farm for more information. All poultry must be delivered in safe and humane poultry transfer crates. We recommend a size of 2’x3’x 10” high, for chickens. Please make sure your lot of birds is properly identified by fully filling out the tags provided at our receiving area. Please do not put straw or sawdust in the transport crates, it clogs up the outside drains. Due to Bio security issues, and the cost of replacing missing transfer crates, we are no longer able to supply transfer crates for rent. Trailers used to deliver poultry transfer crates may be left on site for the day if prior arrangements have been made. Due to limited cooler space custom processed birds must be picked up between 3:30pm and 4:30pm on the day of processing, or the next morning between 8:00am and 10:00am. Any processed poultry left beyond these pick up times is subject to a storage fee of $2.00 per box per day. All processed poultry must be picked up in a clean vehicle with protection from the sun. Poultry leaving the Island Farmhouse facility will be properly chilled, and as a result, refrigerated vehicles are not generally required to pick up product unless delivery is expected to take longer than 2 hours. We advise you to confirm this with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Payment for services is required prior to loading processed poultry. We accept cash, cheques, debit, VISA or M/C |
